Whale Watching
Every year from January to March the humpback whales return to the Samana Bay for their annual mating season. To witness this beautiful moment, we can arrange a boating excursion for you and your family.
El Limón Waterfalls
A half-hour away from Las Terrenas lies the starting point of the unforgettable hike to the 52-m-high El Limon Waterfall. Guests have two options to make their way to the destination; on horse, the trek should take less than an hour while on foot the trek could be longer, depending on each individual’s fitness level. The guided excursion will take you through an uneven, uphill terrain where you can appreciate the surrounding flora and fauna.
Los Haitises National Park
Los Haïtises is a national verdant treasure. The name, Haiti, comes from the Taíno language meaning highland. Visitors can reach this popular ecotourism destination by speedboat to explore caves adorned with pictographs, admire rich tropical vegetation teeming with seabirds, and swim in crystal clear natural swimming pools around Caño Hondo.

Sami, the baby whale, arrived in Samaná Bay during the winter, seeking refuge from the low temperatures of the North Atlantic and motivated by the desire to experience the natural richness of this environment. After interacting with several guests, Sami developed a special interest in humans, appreciating the opportunity to live together, play, and learn together about environmental care, to help her family of whales continue to visit this privileged destination in the Dominican Republic.
Like Sami, we hope that their experience at Sublime Samana connects children with nature, inspiring them to care for the environment and the planet and to continue supporting ecological initiatives in their communities and on future trips.
